Cider Fest 2016 - October 8th & 9th

Yes It’s Fall!  The days are shorter, the nights are cooler and the apples are getting redder.  After a lovely summer we are thrilled to be picking and getting this crop into the barn. Yes, we are excited it’s harvest!  We invite you to come share our excitement.  Join us for our 13th Cider Fest celebration – Oct 8th & 9th.

Hard Cider Tasting - Bigger and Better!

This is the fourth year the Orondo Community Scholarship Foundation will be hosting the hard cider tasting event. The volunteers of OCS are excited to help local students attend college by helping you develop an appreciation for local hard ciders.  In addition to Orondo Cider Works sweet, dry and extra dry hard ciders, they will be featuring seven local cideries.   This hard cider tasting event is one you will not want to miss! We offer lots of Eastern Washington pride in a great orchard setting with terrific view along with music, too. This is a great opportunity to try different styles of ciders and decide which ones are your favorites.    There is a $5.00 charge for tasting which includes 5 tastes.  Extra tastes can also be purchased for $1.00.   Proceeds from the tasting and Hard Cider Sales will help support Orondo students.  The tasting starts at 11:00AM on Saturday and ends at 5:00PM.   Sunday they will be pouring Nature’s favorite celebration drink from noon until 4:00PM.

The hard cider vendors are:

Whiskey Barrel Cider Company (Pullman)

Steelhead Cider Company (Manson)

Hard Row to Hoe Vineyards (Manson)

Rootwood Cider Company (Manson)

Neigel Vintners (East Wenatchee)

Phillippi Ciderhouse (East Wenatchee)

Ole Swede (Tonasket)

Music Music Music!

Can’t have a celebration without music!  We contacted some of our favorites and are bringing them in both days for you.

Jesse Taylor, a true American original! An authentic rodeo cowboy, Jesse’s passion for singing and songwriting has taken him to dive bars and honky-tonks throughout much of the West. His poetic lyrics and haunting melodies capture the flavor of rodeo life with a soulful authenticity. His songs speak powerfully of the American West, of its timeless values and virtues. And they do so in ways that remind us all of the ups and downs in our own lives.   Check him out at www.jessetaylormusic.com

Waterdog, a local talent that brings high-energy classic rock and roll. The band plays all-ages classic rock and roll focusing on the iconic feel-good songs and rock and roll anthems of the 1960s, 70's and 80's. With six members, Waterdog has multiple singers, multiple guitars, multiple keyboard sounds and much talent! Check them out atwww.reverbnation.com/waterdog3

Mexican Feast - Taco Bar

We like to unearth local talent wherever we can.  This year we will be preparing authentic mexican tacos for all to enjoy!

For the kids!

Kid Zone is back with all sorts of free fun activities to entertain the children! Noodle javelin, Obstacle Course, yard twister, bouncy balls, sports disks, slalom run and more.  The goal of course is to amuse the kids, while making sure they burn off lots of energy!   The apple sling shot is in this area, too.  Grown–ups, make sure the children get a chance too.  The hay pyramid is next to the pumpkin patch.  Climb on, under, around and over, then choose your favorite Jack-o-Lantern pumpkin to take home.   And of course, join Farmer Chuck on the bin train for a trip into the orchard.   Get your questions answered as he “circles the bins” and explains how he grows our tasty apples. Bin train rides will happen approximately every half hour.  All kids’ activities are free – except the bin train rides ($3.00 per rider, 2 and under free) and the pumpkin patch (purchase pumpkins by the pound).
